Sorry, I meant make an egg sandwich, perhaps with avocado and then have some vegetables on the side it's a well balanced breakfast that is filling.

OP google recipes for "bread" made with cottage cheese, oats, chia seeds, egg, pumpkin seeds, etc. I make one sweetened with a little date. I don't measure anything, but there are plenty of recipes out there. It's high protein and if you make an egg vegetable and have some spinach or broccoli you have a nice healthy breakfast with protein, fiber and nutrients. My kids prefer the "bread" I make to grocery store it is much higher in protein with no chemicals.

I'm with the nutritionist. Very alarmed a dietician recommended something like Premier protein. It's very processed and there are at least 2 problematic ingredients in there that are being linked to health issues such as the rise in colon cancer, etc. Even the more natural protein powders (I like Truvani) are testing high for lead and cadmium so I only use it when making a treat-not daily.

Besides edamame, quinoa: lean meats, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, eggs (o points), Fage fat free unsweetened greek yogurt is 0 points and tastes nice mixed with berries, fat free cottage cheese can be used to make so many things. It gets nice and creamy when you blend it.

Who is it that's doing this testing you describe? What's your source?

Are you the same person who is posting in other threads too about protein powders being contaminated?

Anonymous wrote:I’m trying to lose weight and recently started Weight Watchers. Tracking my food intake and choices has been very eye opening. I’m not getting enough protein for one thing (I work out regularly including light weight lifting).

I’m trying to increase protein throughout the day, but some days I get to the end and haven’t had very much protein, so I am thinkingl drinking a protein shake around 8pm could be one last burst of protein for the day.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a protein powder that is relatively healthy and not overloaded with sugars.

Thank you.

I just posted, but also you don't want to be ingesting anything that late. For digestion and weightloss, you really want to finish eating by sundown. The more unprocessed foods you eat, the easier it will be to lose weight and the more variety of vegetables and fruits you eat the better your signalling between gut and brain and your immunity improves too. Another idea is to have some protein bursts in the freezer: turkeymeatloaf muffins, lean meatballs, eggmuffins made with cottage cheese and various herbs, tofu loaf, etc. It helps when you are really hungry and need a quick fix.

Anonymous wrote:You could do a serving of plain Greek yogurt mixed with a scoop of peanut butter powder. That would be about 150 cal and 25 grams of protein. You could also add a few chocolate chips if you want it to be dessert-y, or eat it with apple slices for the fiber, etc. There are a lot of influencers that share high protein snack options if you’re on social media. Might be helpful to follow some for more ideas!

OP here, this is a great idea, thank you.

Thank you to all for the suggestions, will check them out!

I generally prefer clean, egg based unflavored powders for making my own copycat Rx bars or adding to smoothies, but the protein shake is really the only thing I can stomach in the morning (I have no appetite until about noon, but know I need to eat immediately).

Look at the ingredients.
Overpriced for what you get, and also has toxic chemicals and preservatives to ensure shelf life. Drinking a glass of milk would be healthier and cheaper.

They shill brands for a reason.

Ok, what do you suggest?

A good and ethical trainer, or someone knowledgeable about actual nutrition, not the old food pyramid or fad diet stuff, will teach a client what to look for and what to avoid, then the client will be knowledgeable enough to find what they are looking for, without recommending any brand names.

A “trainer” shouldn’t be trusted more than a registered dietitian.

Neither should be "trusted", always verify with multiple sources. Most dieticians are clueless overall about sports nutrition and still in boomer nutrition territory from the 1970s studies.

+1 insane take. My RD did take ample time to discuss other aspects of what to look for. Those brands are all 30g protein or more
