Why do you people have a problem with people using labels of their choosing?

They afford you the same respect.

It is highly likely that they will get married at some point, and we love her very much. She's 28 years old.

Although she's not a jewelry person, she does have a couple of simple pieces that we have given her over the years and she does wear them.

I think our budget is about $200, but I am open to increasing that for the right thing.

I would be very grateful for any ideas.

Jewelry is highly personal, and many women don't like it being bought for them by someone else, unless they get to pick it out, so she might not wear it much, or feel compelled to wear it when she doesn't like it.

How about a weekend getaway to a spa or something?

This, I'd do a store and take her out to eat.

A nice leather bag to take to conferences.
Such as :

My parents had my diploma framed.

My advisor gave me a framed etching of the school (a historic building on campus).

Something serious, not frivolous . To show your pride.

No, these are way too feminine.

It is a huge PROFESSIONAL accomplishment . She did not win a beauty pageant!

No.

(I say this as someone with a PhD. Scientists would consider any such nameplate to be laughably pretentious)
