This person was not OP. I am. I need full service because I am a disabled single mom. It’s really not helpful when an OP asks for one thing and people respond with “just do it a completely different way from the way you asked about!”

We are moving in about a month and haven't gotten any quotes yet and need to get on it. Although I'm not sure we will even bother comparing quotes as we really liked the movers we used last time, so we might just get a quote from them and if it sounds reasonable book them.

We moved a year ago from a 2400 sq ft house in FCC to a 2100 sq ft house in Vienna last May and we packed ourselves and paid $2500 for the movers before tips.

Yes, this. When you rent the truck you can hire people to load and unload on either end right on the rental website.

I was going to guess $10k.

We were quoted $6-8K for our small 4BR townhouse.

We recently moved a 4 bdr from DC to MD, and it was $4k in the dead of winter for mostly self-packing. One estimator said that moving during the summer doubles the cost.
If you have fragile/valuable items, move those yourself. I would consider renting a minivan or larger SUV for the move so that you have access to these valuable items in your own car. Also, pack suitcases as if you were going to spend a few days at a hotel, as well as a box with things like toilet paper, paper towels, a few trash bags, disposable utensils, cups/mugs, instant coffee, milk boxes, fruit, snacks, easy breakfast food, and a pot, a package of pasta, a wooden spoon, and a jar of marinara and some parm for a quick and easy hot meal.
Also be sure to have things like passports on you, rather than as part of the moving truck. Make sure to have cash on hand for tips. We had a moving crew of five and gave out $300 in tips.
