Sure, it could be drugs, but my first thought was anxiety, depression or other mental illness or even social issues.

What's his friend group like? Any changes to who he hangs out with or is dating? I

He’s had to much free rein and now he thinks he can get away with it.
Put an app on his phone so you can track him. I like Life360.
Take his phone and all media away at a certain time at night. All my kids electronic charge in my room overnight.
If he skips school he loses the phone.

Could be a mental health issue, drugs, or phone addiction.

Sleep issues when my nephew was a teen were first emerging signs of his bipolar- that fully emerged in college.

Those were the exact same behaviors my son started exhibiting at age 15. Like to a T. It was not drugs or vaping. It was the onset of bipolar 2, which came with the most serious crushing depression and self injurious behavior and serious (not cry for help) suicide attempts as well as violence towards others.

I hope you get to the bottom of it. Definitely search his phone for clues.

The phone needs to go away at night. You also need to go through it as well as his search history. This could be drugs, depression, an eating disorder. So much.

It doesn't have to be drugs. . .it could be an eating disorder - constant exercise by walking around for hours in the house could be that. . .being tired & not able to pay attention in class could also be explained by that. How is he doing with meals/eating?

I agree 100% that it's something serious, just wanted to put out that it doesn't always have to be drugs.

Vaping nicotine is not ideal, but it does not make you skip school, lose weight, act weird, and stay up all night. Something is going on and it feels like drugs.

Oh and with drug test, check for nicotine in the urine too. I got mine on Amazon. And look for carts, vapes, and pens in his backpack or hiding in his room. Most bring them to school

1. Drug test him
2. Sew an air tag inside his backpack
3. Put life 360 on his phone - make sure they both (air tag and 360 locations) are in the same place or he’s trying to play you.
4. No electronics in bedroom after 10pm
5. Set downtime on his phone during school and limit social media apps to 1 hour a day. You can set this up on your own phone
6. If no drugs or leaving school or sneaking out, he could be depressed or has a bullying issue ur break-up.
7.Why is his lacrosse coach letting him play or practice if he is missing classes. That’s a huge no in our high school. I would email his counselor and cc his coach on his absenteeism issues and work ethic.
8. When you ask him if he is ok, what is he saying? Do you know his friends well enough or no?

If not for this post, I wouldn't have known this either. Don't rush to judge the OP.

I was raised overseas and it would have never struck me that my kid was doing drugs. I would have thought kid is having some illness and taken him to the doctor.

He's definitely vaping, either nicotine or THC or both.
