When I said " same", I meant somehow they believed VSIP and VERA will be good enough to bring down the workforce to meet the reduction requirement. They mabye right, but I don't know how they knew that.

I got a government job when I turned forty because I wanted to avoid age discrimination. Now I’m 13 years in, too young for the Social Security supplement, too few years for Vera, too specialized for a private sector job, and looking at a 50% haircut on what I had planned for my pension to be. And it sucks cause I should be employable. But nobody’s going to hire a mid 50s software engineering manager who’s been out of the private sector for so long.
