Is a passport card proof of citizenship? If so, and if you're worried, get one when you apply for your regular passport.

The thread is saying that non-citizens should have their passports and that citizens should have a form of ID. Not the same as walking around with proof of citizenship. Do you carry your passport or birth certificate to go to the grocery store or anywhere else? Stop telling people they are hysterical. That line doesn’t work anymore.

“ extraordinarily rare and difficult process” = true in the past.

If you look up the statute you can have your citizenshipship revoked for “egregious acts”.

The danger is that what Trump’s Justice And State Depts might define as egregious may different from how it’s been in the past. And while one could have relied on the courts in the past if ICE rounds you up and takes you across country I don’t see any courts with armed militia stepping in.

I am not prone to hysteria. But this is pretty scary.

They may be lying but maybe not. I’m half Puerto Rican and two of my elderly aunts were terrified to fly to the mainland in February for similar reasons. The linked story scared them and many others, and I doubt it’s the only instance.

They are lying, 100%, because if you get deported you are sent back to your home country. If they determine your home country is Puerto Rico, they know you are an American.

Again, it is like saying someone was “deported “ to Alaska. It doesn’t make any sense.

PP here. I’m not hysterical, but nothing that’s going on is normal, and I don’t think we can afford to made any assumptions about the rule of law, decency, etiquette, class, civility or anything else. We live in an environment where might makes right, logic and all the rest are out the window.

We’re not even two months in and things are all effed up. Imagine what it will be like in another year or two once the courts are suppressed.

H1-b work visa can be revoked anytime. She was denied entry at a border crossing. So something she did flagged her. This happens all the time even before Trump.
