We did the 'New DAWGS' day, but honestly, I think the admitted student tour would be just as good. For the tours and New Dawgs Day, keep checking for openings, since spots do open up ( This is how we got ours).
This is helpful. What about the visit blew you away?
We both loved the town and the campus—you really have to visit to understand what a cool town and atmosphere it has.
The business school was also very impressive. He actually prefers that it’s not a direct-admit program like UF, FSU, or Clemson. He feels this structure fosters stronger peer networks and engagement, offers more personalized attention and better resources, and that he could benefit from the added selectivity.
UF – He didn’t like the campus or the surrounding area. A major drawback was learning that 25% of business classes are online. After talking with current students, he heard that many of their classes were online and that in-person classes tended to be large and impersonal. This was a huge negative and couldn’t be spun into a positive.
FSU – He liked the campus a lot, but felt UGA’s business school was significantly stronger, and that the overall focus and energy of UGA was a better fit.
Clemson – Too isolated, and he didn’t feel that the business school—or the university as a whole—was as strong academically or professionally.
Virginia Tech – He really liked the campus and the school overall, but wasn’t entirely sure about the vibe. Still, it made a great impression.
Penn State – Just felt too large.
