Those of you opting out of the HOPE: are you sure this isn't also opting out of AAP? I agree that it is subjective. But if it is weighted the highest, you may be doing your kid a disservice by opting out.
No because they can’t utilize only one assessment or avenue for determining placement. They also can’t penalize you for asserting your parental rights.
Omitting the local committee assessment seems like a pretty risky option but you do you.
The kid got in so I will thanks!

Also if it makes you feel better, I don't believe the AART isn't part of the appeal decision.
Look at the appeal form here: https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/forms/AAPAppealForm.pdf
It's true, it's completely parent driven, as my AART said. I requested the packet and she sent it same day, happily. She also answered my questions about it. You have nothing to lose although you might find some things annoying (e.g., bad work samples for the school, etc.)
OP you must be in a high SES school. Your daughter should be a shoe in!
I'm glad you said that. If OPs daughter is borderline, then my kid has no hope. It seems like everyone on here has kids with 99 percentile iReady as if that's just a given for AAP.
OP here - I am basing that she is borderline on the scores from here -- maybe that is not accurate? We are not at a high SES school. We are in the West Potomac pyramid but Waynewood.

Parents can opt out of HOPE? Is this new? Never heard of anyone opting out of GBRS.
