Admit rate is very low for popular majors such as Econ and Cs. In state students are given priority.

Son got in for architecture. Still up in the air if he'll go that far or stay on East Coast. Was wait-listed at VT and deferred to RD at UVA.

My child goes there - know of 2 people who got in - last year no one. It is an awesome school but they definitely are having staffing shortage issues. So, if you got in - depending on major - take a better look. Facebook parent groups can be useful. Or check sub Reddit

Sorry to hear about the disappointing decisions today. I’m the Seattle person and I know from our OOS babysitters that UW has yield protected quite aggressively in recent years. They have done a lot to try to push up their ranking but they’ve been most aggressive in that area.

I would definitely consider UW for grad school. I went to an Ivy and another one for grad school before moving here. My friends who are most successful and settled in Seattle went to other schools for undergrad and UW for b-school, med school or law school.

Accepted to UVA, Michigan….but denied at UW…Econ weird….


My DC was rejected too -- OOS for humanities/social sciences, also 3.9 UW. In at comparably-ranked schools with merit aid. I guess it was about time in this process for random disappointment to crop up, but it's a shame it was via UDub -- it was high on the list, DC loves Seattle, and we have friends/family there.
