Seconding -- I got some excellent swim suits from Aerie last year. They don't look ridiculous at all, just simple and flattering. And they are very affordable.

I'm 44 -- I got lots of basic clothes from Free People and Zara, blouses from Sezane, blazers from Veronica Beard and Diane Von Furstenburg and Saint and Sofia, and some of my favorite pieces are from one off brands like Marcella NYC. Jeans from Levis and Rag and Bone.

I wear a wardrobe centered in great jeans and cashmere in fall/ winter - dresses and long skirts (I prefer silk maxi with a tshirt or tank) in spring/summer. A good camel coat, black coat, leather jacket, suede jacket, two trench coats.

I’ll note all is helped by being slim and in shape

I have teens and they definitely think Anthro is an old lady store. I think Anthro is more in the 30-something demographic. Some of their stuff works great for 50 year olds but some of it not at all.

I think you just have to mix it up. as in - don't try to look like one of their models. Mix in Anthro purchases with more classic items to keep it interesting but not 'old lady.'

I am the farthest thing from a regina mom, but I got the best swim suits last year at aerie! One one piece and one high rise bikini bottom plus top. Athleta discontinued my previous favorite but I was really happy with the quality and fit of the aerie swim stuff. Very surprised.

I tend to get stuff from Boden and j crew. A PP had a very high send list (Reiss, Hobbes of London…) — I think that stuff is really nice but then I often just can’t really justify spending that money on things given my pretty casual lifestyle. I have a great jersey shirt dress I got from boden last year which I can dress up with a suede jacket and nice belt — that was a good purchase. And I got a cashmere poncho from j crew this year that I like and looks nice with jeans or black pants. Both of those can also double as work wear so that’s good. think it really depends on what type of events you are shopping for and what kind of life you live. I’ve starting buying more fun belts because I can change the look of an outfit a lot by changing out the belt and jewelry. I would like a couple more fun long sleeve tops but never really find anything I love. Like a beautiful fabric with a pattern I wouldn’t get sick of.
