Perceived Prstige by who? By the population at large? By academics, by the professional workforce in NYC, DC and SanFran? By kids?

UChicago has declined to a third tier school.
JHU is too narrowly focused on BME.
MIT is a technical school, which has no business in prestige.

If only an idiot like you have a say...

You mean "has." You're welcome.

This is a dumb and boring topic, and this response is ridiculously wrong.

There are so many of these types of threads. At some point *shrugs*.

Folks are starting to think about prestige relative to value proposition. So prestigue with value factored in:

Huge research unis like CAL's reputation is dependent on their graduate level output. The undergrad has the best kids from CA public schools but if a school stops considering stadardized test scores, you are probably not getting the genius kids who end up at schools w more holistic standards. That said, according to "perceived" prestige, yes Berkeley definiltey has a brand that belongs in the top 10

Dartmouth? Really? princeton rejects hidden in the mountains?

Its about precieved prestige. Like mom proudly wears MIT sweatshirt and other parents say "wow"
