This thread is dead. OPs deadline long PASSED

When describing a problem, many people post about behavior and emotions, from their POV.

Then the OP “layers on” their interpretation/justification of responsibility and blame. I’m doing so, the writer exhaust themselves and omits key details

Many of those omissions leave writers guessing and providing generic advice

There seems to be a weird assumption on this thread that camp is something that lasts a week. OP is probably a working parent, most single moms are. She probably needs care every week except the ones her ex has.

The mom has the entire summer with the children. She is choosing an optional camp now

Why would they be in camp for only 14 days? and the rest of the summer lock key?

This makes zero sense. What are the children doing for the rest of the summer holiday? Are they home
schooled? I don’t understand why you are even picking camps at all alone ?

What happened?

By the way this scenario is common

Divorce Lawyers help break all communication between parents (or make everyone believe all communication has to go through them).

Lawyers create unnatural circumstances
—then leave;
Then you are faced with real life. Like this.

Document what! He’s following the court order. Offer him something like more time.

+1. You may not think it, but that’s what he feels

Anonymous wrote:My custody order was written by a judge and it was unfortunately poorly written. The non-custodial parent has to choose two weeks of summer vacation by a certain deadline, but that deadline is way past the summer camp registration date. If I don’t register the kids within the next week, they lose their spot, but their dad is refusing to choose his weeks until the last day possible. Is there anything that can be done? This is the second time he has done this, so I expect it will be a yearly occurrence.

Simple solution give him more than two weeks. Sounds like you blocked him from seeing the kids and he's pissed.

Document it all. He can either choose early or choose alternate dates. If he ends up choosing dates right at the same time as camp, file for modification to change his deadline so no future problems occur.
