I’m 5’2”. I have gotten multiple dents in my car (mostly in parking lots) over the years since I just cannot see things over the dashboard that taller people can. This is in several different cars.

It also took until I was about 35 before people stopped telling me at work that I looked too young to be doing my profession. I welcome grey hair now.

And the clothes fitting issue is real.

Otherwise, I don’t mind it at all. It’s easier to make your way through crowds, I have great balance, and economy class on airplanes is less uncomfortable for me than for taller people.

I am 4'11". I don't mind being short usually as people often think I am much younger than I am but it is hard to find clothes that fit. I have to go to the tailor a lot. I wish I was 2-3 inches taller.

At my height I deal with a ton of infantilization by both men , and women . Despite being in my late 30s I often get mistaken for a child

It’s extremely hard to maintain being thin at my height since my bmr is low . Unfortunately I have high appetite, and eat more than bigger people


Lastly when men say they like short women they mean women in the 5’0-5’4 range . At my height I attract creepy men who seem hebophilic . I also get hit on a lot by very short guys who only want me because I’m the only girl shorter than them in the room




I'm 5'0 and I like my height. 4'10 is very short, so your experience is on the extreme side. Even at 5'0 it's very hard to be thin because every ounce shows and at least for me, I can't manage to be thin. I'm ok with it.


Um, you are just as short as her. If I saw you two next to each other, I would not see a difference.

I'm 5'3" and I swear every show I go to the tall people sit in front of me. I need to bring a booster seat. Plus, I agree it's difficult to remain thin. I am thin, but it's through constant starvation. Well, I guess I'm not clinically starving as I'm still healthy range. I just completely feel ravenous 24/7.

I spent three hours online this weekend, looking for pants and shirts that would fit me. As a PP pointed out, it’s not just about getting the pants hemmed. Tailored shirts are a nightmare, wide-legged pants can look clownish (I’m north of 50 and not a size 0).

For me, non-petite shirts/sweaters are worse for me than pants/jeans. Those can be tailored, but it’s much harder to get the proportions right for shirts/sweaters.

Plus women are pressured to look younger . I find that petite women maintain the youthful look for longer . While tall women appear old even if we have baby faces . I looked 25 years old at 16 years purely based off my height


What? I’m tall and never had the issues you describe. Also have many tall friends and have never, ever heard this.



I am 6 foot and have never had this experience either of people thinking I’m a man or a transgender woman. Family of tall women and never an issue for them either.

Are you particularly large boned? Or bad haircut or unflattering clothes? Sorry for you that happens.

While it's true that gaining 5 pounds is super noticable (about a dress size) the upside is that the opposite is true too.
