Or lie and tell her you went and it was terrible and your whole family felt sick after and it really messed up your vacation. Bet she won't give you other suggestions on the future!

Right, this shouldnt even be a big deal. Or go one step further, google one of the places and read reviews and mention one of the star dishes that was really good. "Yes, we went and the green curry was amazing!" Why is OP struggling with this concept?

Uh bc it feels ridiculous to have to lie to a grown woman bc I didn’t eat at the restaurant she liked. And then I have to make sure I remember the lie for years to come…

Yeah, get over it. People tell little white lies all the time, it's called basic social skills. Just like people lie to you when you ask if your butt looks good in those jeans...

She’s asking if I reserved at such and such a place, and when I mentioned we had made reservations at another place bc my family wanted to try it, she got upset and said we had bad taste!

Wow, she’s rude. You don’t owe her anything. I’d just ignore it and move on. Do you have to work closely with this person?

Yea, unfortunately. I think we will try to hit at least one or two of her recs, and then I’ll rave about them when I see her. Maybe that will satisfy her

In your situation, I would avoid speaking about the trip with her. If it comes up, change the subject or find somewhere else you need to be.

Wow! Judgy McJudgepants is here. You don't even know the person and OP's post was a one liner, yet you conclude something awful about her friend. Lemme guess, you also tell everyone to divorce, drop their parents as soon as they need help, and turn their kids onto the streets? Does this describe you exactly, if not, imagine your post applied to someone else

I'd change the topic when possible. The advice to say the ideas looked great but didn't work out are the way to go. If she's still offended, it's a her problem and not a you problem.

When I've shared recommendations, I first ask permission if the person wants to hear them. Only when they say yes to hearing about an idea would I suggest something. I do not expect that my rec is a command.

So, this woman has issues.

I didn’t ask. But I did thank her for them

Anonymous wrote:OP, did you ask this person for dining recommendations? I am always baffled by the dining requests on this board. For example, “ We are touring UVA, where should we have lunch?” Come on, it’s a sandwich. Just pick a place and eat.

Did you not read above? No. I mentioned where I was going and she sent me her list of favorites
