It’s because the schools offer all these frills & extraneous stuff but many kids are not learning the basics. It’s like a beautiful car that has a great sound system, heated seats, & enormous cargo capacity, but doesn’t reliably get you to work.

Every other president complained about the performance of public schools, but did little to improve things.

Idk but that would not make up for 112 million.

They even mentioned that it would cover getting rid of testing or modifying selection processes for competitive admissions in order to ensure a better racial balance. They were talking mostly about colleges but would magnets apply?

Would this also mean the central office equity and inclusion department would also be done? Did they make the budget cuts?

Based on this,

It seems that the clocked started on Friday, 2/14, so the deadline would be 2/28.

If only it was that simple. It seems like it's much broader than just cutting the whole equity office.

Not OP but this is relevant given Trump's directive from the Education department to schools, to eliminate DEI or they will lose funding. This could impact MCPS if they decide to take a stand.

I am surprised MCPS hasn't addressed this in an e-mail yet.

Probably waiting for guidance from the state.

I think it's 112.8 million total for programs like childfind, headstart, etc. and an additional 42 million for the national lunch program?
