Banneker did interviews this year on Feb 19 (rescheduled from Feb 12 snow day) and Feb 26.

I have a current 9th grader and I remember last year some people also heard or had the impression that the school would reach out mid-March, but as far as I know, everyone found out with MSDC lottery results, which is how it's supposed to work. I suspect maybe there's one teacher or admin who thinks there's a different process and they keep repeating it every year (?)

Yes, last year. We got an interview but it was VERY perfunctory (and I think we were in one of the last waves, maybe second-to-last).

My older child got an interview in the last wave and got in. Younger child got an interview in the first wave and did not. YMMV

I thought they told us in the interview that they would reach out the 1st or 2nd week of March. Did anyone else hear that?

There is no lottery for the selective schools. They rank their candidates and those are the kids who get offers. The lottery only comes into play if you ranked a school higher or lower and if more that one kid has the same ranking number for one of the final spots, the lottery master number would determine which kid gets the spot.

Is there a third wave, or is this it for Banneker? And for Banneker and SWW, is it the lottery system first, then the interview and final decision? Or they interview the top choices, then lottery them?

Just got notice of Banneker interview next Wednesday. This must be the second wave.
