I prefer to spend my money at B&Bs that offer higher quality experiences in spa/dining. Maybe not the larger resorts but for a lot of money, I don't care if it's less and smaller if it's nicer and more enjoyable
Not OP, but these are nice options. If I was going away with DH, I’d love one of these if close to DC.

Look Mohonk is great as a multigenerational place with lots of good outdoors activities, and the food is decent/good for a large resort—I’d recommend it all day for people looking for that— but it is really a “luxury resort” for a couple?
It's not even 4 stars so the obvious answer is no.

Which class is that?
Look Mohonk is great as a multigenerational place with lots of good outdoors activities, and the food is decent/good for a large resort—I’d recommend it all day for people looking for that— but it is really a “luxury resort” for a couple?

The Martha is a nice spot. The theater across the street is very good. The restaurant at the hotel is great. Pool, hot tub and tennis courts are nice.

+10000 DC area doesn’t have enough wealth for there to be demand for high end luxury properties within driving distance.
