Rick Clark, the former admissions director, used to tell families that countless students with perfect grades and extremely high test scores are rejected every year. This is especially true for CS/engineering applicants, and for those applying from out of state.
We shouldn't be surprised.

Thanks. My (private HS) DD was deferred OOS; waiting for RD results from other T20s. Am trying to temper expectations but it's encouraging to hear of your DS's good news elsewhere!

No. Public-OOS. He also applied EA to GATech and RD for the T10s (except for one that had an EA option).
