My son was admitted to both UT Austin and UF and I don't share your opinion that one is remarkably stronger than the other and I've done a ton of research. Both are great schools hence why they are both considered "Public Ivies". My son is struggling with his decision for sure. To your point about UGA and UF. I will just say that UF received over 90,000 applications this admissions cycle. UGA received 47,850 (just almost half of UF and UT Austin). UF admissions rate will fall somewhere around 13% this cycle. Average ACT is really high along with the average GPA being well over 4.0. UGA will probably be around 30-33%. UGA's officially reported average overall GPA this cycle was 3.81, average ACT 29 and SAT 1285. I'm not saying that UGA is not a good school because I think it is a really good school overall. UF is just incredibly selective these days and is a "public ivie" and ranked 7th among public universities by US News for a reason.

UGA has a much better "feel" to it than UF--excellent university academically with great athletics and a beautiful campus in a very fun and charming small city.

I’ll give it to UGA, Florida is too,reliant on online classes.

My 2023 DD was deferred EA with a 4.0 UW GPA, 1320 SAT and 7 AP classes. She submitted the update with first semester grades and mentioned a new sports award and a recent service project she organized. She also mentioned how these activities tied in with some specific clubs she wanted to join at UGA. She was accepted RD.

Even in the past few years, there is a huge drop in the stats between the students accepted EA at Georgia and those that enroll. This suggests most of the initial group don’t attend . I think they still take lots of deferred kids in RD.

“Huge” and “most” are exaggerations. The same basic principle applies to every college since not everyone admitted actually enrolls.

In this case no. The enrolled student data really differs substantially from ED1 admits.
