If you have slightly older kids it can be great, you can keep an eye on them from the balcony. Also advantageous with younger kids because you are close to the pool. At some resorts it can be quite far

Op here. Thanks PPs for the responses. It just seems strange to me that I’d want to people watch a large group of half naked strangers. Clearly I’m probably the only one who feels this way but something about staring out at a pool full of half naked people odds me out. Even at the actual pool I don’t like looking at people in bathing suits, someone’s always awkwardly digging out of their crack, it’s just awkward.

Plus I know someone’s down there self conscious about how they look in their swimsuit and knowing that I’m sitting on my balcony just staring out at them. I can also see how someone malintent wants to just sit and oogle.

For those with questions, this is the type of setting I am referring to, when it’s the communal pool, none are my own photos:

I've only stayed at resorts where "pool view" means you have a patio/garden with your own pool.

It’s always wild to get a glimpse into other people’s minds…it would never occur to me to think that people choose pool view for pervy reasons. If someone said that to me irl I’d think there was something seriously wrong with them.

Again, depends on the hotel and the type of people at the pool. At Hard Rock Universal I assure you that you do not want a pool view.

I think it's just important information about the room, so they list it. Because of location, and noise.

I went to a family destination wedding and my room had a pool view. It was easy enough to look out and say, "Aunt Joan is out there. I'll probably stay in a little longer." People were always waving from the windows to people in the pool. When you were outside, you could always see people up in the windows just looking out. It seemed more like people watching than anything pervy.
