Oh yes, parfumerie Douglas.

"Detectives are reviewing video footage that shows the victim and shooter walked into the waiting area of the garage — which services Greyhound and other bus lines — and “seemed to know each other,” Smith said.
Smith said the victim grabbed something off the shooting suspect, who then began firing their gun. The victim then ran out of the waiting area and collapsed near the escalator, she said."
Based on this description, I don't know what Union Station or the DC police could have done to specifically prevent this incident, other than hiring 10,000 extra police to guard every public space in the city.
More generally, we need to get guns off the street.
Why should I not be permitted to legally carry my gun because a criminally illegally carried and used one?
How does restricting me make you or anyone else safer? I was no danger to you to begin with, and the people who ARE a danger to you will ignore the law anyway. So how are you safer if I’m more vulnerable?

I lived on the Hill from 1997-2005, I loved stopping at B Smiths after work for a drink with friends. I went to so many movies in the basement too!!

There's no more fed, only Musk. Musk wants to fire 75% of DOJ and FBI. If he took over DC, he would want to fire 75% of MPD too.

It is a federal property, no?
Yes, it is.
The federal government owns the property but doesn’t manage daily operations there. A private company out of NYC controlled operations (like all the leases with the retail there, maintenance, etc) but COVID hit them hard. I don’t remember all the details but I think they defaulted on their loan and were trying to sell their leasehold interest, and then Amtrak took it over or is trying to take it over. Union Station of 2020 was already in decline (IMO) compared to the Union Station of a decade before that, but it’s really taken a nose dive after COVID.
The security situation is also really complicated there because of overlapping jurisdiction of MPD, Amtrak police, WMATA police, and US Park Police (NPS owns the plaza out front).
Union Station has always been my favorite building in DC and it makes me so sad what’s happening there now.

Prayers for the victims family. Wow, you are disgusting.
