I'm the OP. I just did the choose economy and get upgraded to Garage 2 plan- worked perfectly. Thank you for everyone's help.

Garage 2 is a closer walk IF you can manage to score a spot closer to the terminal. But if it’s a busy weekend and you’re parked on far of side of Garage 2 I think the walk from Garage 1 is close to a wash.

The walk to/from Garage 1 will have more foot traffic because it’s the route to the Metro stop. If you get a crappy spot in Garage 2, it can be a long desolate walk. Also when I parked in Garage 2 in January the elevator next to the walk way to the terminal was not working because all the salt was in the door track of the elevator and the doors were stuck open. I had to carry a large heavy ski bag up the stairs to get to my car on the top level. Total PITA.

I’ll probably do Garage 1 moving forward. IIRC tunnel under the hourly lot from Garage 1 has moving walkways to help make it easier to the main terminal.

I'd still do hourly. I know what it costs. That's just me, I'd economize elsewhere.
