These are huge counties with lots of people in the DC metro area. It can be fine in one area of a county and dangerous in another.

This isn't that hard to understand. I don't get why people get their panties in a bunch because a forecast is wrong. Do they not understand what a forecast is?

Don’t you think they should cancel based on the actual conditions? They could have cancelled all activities for today IF it actually started sleeting or the conditions were bad. Same for school. Forecasts are more often wrong than right.

Many people need to plan in advance— especially those families with multiple activities going on in different directions. As for school, many teachers have long commutes and may have childcare and eldercare arrangements to accommodate on top of that. I’d rather have a few “wrong” guesses in the better-safe-than-sorry direction than either last-minute decisions or unexpected severe weather. People in other weather zones may have other priorities.

When it comes to schools, early dismissals are the worst.

This does not bode well for next week. At least 2 days off, maybe 3.

Aren't those Rec games bring played at school and community gyms? Is your kid likely to be NBA bound? Probably not. So, chill.

I just want the season to be over. I would be happy if they didn’t reschedule the games.. just cancel them.

I remember the year that kids were stuck on school buses for six hours in Montgomery County because they didn’t want to send kids home early based on the forecast. I-95 in VA was a ‘parking lot’ were people slept overnight because of the delays in treating the roads, etc.
