are you the same poster on every thread? do you realize how people take government jobs with expectation of lower pay but better stability/benefits and they have specialized skills that don't exist in private sector (usaid). i'm not even a federal employee and cannot understand these repeated dumb comments

Im talking to my 7 year old pretty frankly about it so I can’t imagine not talking to teens about it. Im not on admin leave, but very at risk for job loss talking about the political shifts and how it is impacting my job, he understands it is stressful but in an age appropriate way. It is impossible to completely hide the stress the last few weeks so better to address it a little bit though not dwell. This is history, learning about how people exploit power, what motivates them, it’s learning. I don’t talk about it in this way exactly since my kid is young, but I do explain some of the aspects in age appropriate ways to start to teach lessons about politics, power, government, wealth etc. there is sooo much there for a teen to learn. Just make sure it is in a way that is very clear that we are safe, we are prepared. I’ve said to my kid if I were to lose my job, we’ve prepared for that and are lucky we have been able to save and we would be just fine to make sure if he overhears my husband and I talking he doesn’t feel worried. So if on admin leave I would explain that too.

I would be honest with them. They aren’t little kids.
