It would help.

No, because a) that’s not going to happen and would be financial malpractice, since nothing is propping up the share price except the cult of Elon and b) are they even going to make cars any more?

I don’t think anyone said they have a problem with Tesla drivers, just that we’re not inclined to go buy one.

I definitely look askance at cybertruck drivers though.

Cybertruck drivers are the exception to this, for sure. No issue with folks who have been driving the other models for years. Most of the people I know will not buy another one, though.

They should be! And that bumper sticker that says 'I bought this before Elon went crazy doesn't absolve you!"

So what's the answer? Sell your Tesla to a Musk supporter at a fire sale price that helps him and not you?

Can't speak for everyone but the people I know who have Teslas love them but won't buy a new one when the time comes to replace it. Musk has gone too far. They are also selling their Tesla stock.

This is us. We do love our Tesla and under different circumstances would have bought another one this summer. We'll be buying something different now.

I don't think you need to worry about the sedan-type Teslas, since they're very widespread and people understand most of them were bought before Elon started cozying up to the extreme-right.

PP is correct that the timing of the cybertruck rollout makes these owners seem like they just deliberately ignored red flags from that quarter (or maybe they're neo-Nazis too!). Also cybertrucks are extremely unsafe - they're very heavy, and they lack collapsible plastic fenders which make collisions with pedestrians/bicycles/etc less lethal than they might otherwise be. Without injecting politics into it, it's just a really, really, bad design and no rational car-buyer should ever be interested.

Teen DD said cybertrucks look like trash cans.

If someone goes out right now and buys a Tesla, they are supporting Elon Musk's company. Buy whatever car you want but I don't have to be impressed with someone that's going to support that guy's company. There are plenty of other vehicle options.

Plus he seems to be actively trying to trash his brand as fast as he can. So you have to wonder about the longevity of this brand.

If you buy a Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, or VW, you are supporting families who built their wealth on the Nazi-industrial complex. Actual Nazis, not figurative ones. Similar connections can be made to Toyota and Mitsubishi with regard to the wealthy families of Japan.

If you think there is some major corporation that is not complicit in globalism, radical oligarchy, and war profiteering, I would love to know what company that is.

The profiteering was last century, PP, and you can't fault today's CEOs and car consumers for the tragedies of 75+ years ago. It's really not the same thing as knowingly buying a Tesla today, when Elon Musk made the Nazi salute last week, appeared at the German extreme-right rally and declared he would be financially supporting them for their campaign.

You most certainly can fault them. Ill-gotten gain can (and ought to be) divested. And in the interest of semantic purity, it was the atrocities of 75+ years ago, not mere tragedies.

You fault Musk for being cozy with the German far right. Do you think that Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, and VW are not feathering the nests of the powerful right wing in Germany? That is completely unrealistic.

If you want to buy a Tesla, buy a Tesla. Not giving any company of Elon musk a penny of my hard-earned money and that is my right.
