That’s true in the aggregate, but National is a much riskier airport than average due to the short runways and crowded airspace. FWIW, I don’t believe driving to Dulles instead creates any meaningful incremental risk.
Please, I implore you, pull the actual risk calculations per mile of driving and per mile of flying. Basically:
0.54 deaths per 100 million miles driven (2022)
0.01 deaths per 100 million miles flown (that was 2009, the last year with a fatal commercial US airline crash)

So do whatever you want, but one of those is 54 times than the other, relatively speaking. Seems like a pretty easy decision to me. Even if you think DCA is 5 times riskier than any other airport, still 10 times safer than driving.
