OP unfortunately they’ll have to get insurance on the open market and it’s going to be expensive.

NP,
But this is exactly what triggers people. The right is dividing us by insisting that so many "illegals" come here for "free care". It's inflammatory and they make blanket statements about ER rooms being full of illegals.

Then the rest of us look at the data and it's not supporting that, but someone does have to pay for that care, however large or small it is. Once everyone has calmed down, we get the anecdote like this one poster asking about benefits for one elderly person and it sets everyone off again.

Leaving the inflammatory comments aside, a 76 year old is going to have higher health care costs, whether it be today or in a a few years. Why do we (collective we) need to pay for that?

You’re not. Never did and never will. Please educate yourself before spewing hate.

Tax payers fund Medicare. the individual didn’t pay into the pool. So why would the pool pay for a non participant?

In your effort to get your hot take off, you’re making yourself look hateful.

Please show me how a green card holder can obtain Medicare. I’d love to be able to get it for a relative. You’re very helpful.

Your relative can pay for care through the marketplace exchange. The rest of the population who paid into the system can utilize Medicare. Why do people expect things for free?

Not surprising that you didn’t detect sarcasm in my comment. I’ll spell it out for you this time. Green card holders are not eligible for Medicare unless they’ve paid into the system. So save your rage for something else that you can actually auppprt with facts.

Can you tell us who does then? Where does the money come from?

They obtain private insurance. What’s so hard to understand about that?

Not eligible. My own mother is a green card holder and since she never worked in the US she couldn’t get Medicare.

Was she married to your father or someone who has a work history in the US? Can't a green card holder get Medicare through spouse's work history?

Holy cow!
This person is not eligible for Medicare.
Why are you bringing it up except for your ignorance?

Holy cow! You are rude. I was responding to the "benefits to the elderly" comment.

You left out the first part of her request, asking for health care benefits she can apply for.

Yes, I also interpreted OP's request as such

What’s wrong with asking a question? I love how triggered your both are by a simple question.

What’s wrong with answering the question? You seem to the the triggered one, hall monitoring the thread.

I did answer her question several times. Did you? Other than the very helpful “go back.”
