The MD. Governor is trying to attract business. He has one of the busiest seaports.

Wishful thinking. Democrats' solution will be more regulations that will make doing business conditions worse. They'll keep increasing taxes to make up for the huge budget holes since they have no other sources to tap. And they'll refuse to cut spending.

Pls don't complain when spending cuts happen and they affect services you use. Keep that same energy, Larla šŸ˜‰

They don't make spending cuts, oh snippy one, they just keep raising taxes.

Np. Move to Mississippi then or Oklahoma

Our politicians are more about selfies and showboating than they are about making government accountable and responsive.

Democrats are the most common theme.

Thanks for making it political

I’m a democrat and agree that dems make small businesses difficult. Look at DC. Making the minimum wage 16.00 for waiters is crazy. All the businesses are adding all the costs to customers as some BS ā€œservice feeā€- dc council has created a nightmare to landlords, why would anyone rent out a unit to anyone is beyond me. The dems keep trying to tax their way out of issues which just makes it worse.

I'm hoping Wes Moore will be gone next election.

This is true, but we should work on becoming a little bit more streamlined in our processes in order to attract businesses. We don’t have to become a red welfare state.

Except those are also the wealthiest states with the best educational systems. The South is great for business and really poor.

That just confirms what I already knew. Maryland is not a business friendly state. Permits take an exceedingly long time. You need a permit for everything and none of it is coordinated. It’s expensive and the process is very long.

This is the problem with clickbait rankings like this. You can pretty much devise any metrics you want to reach your desired result. Beyond pointless.

Large businesses can handle the regulatory/political/tax overhead in a way that small businesses can't. Large businesses also tend to generate more economic activity.

The problem being, you need new small businesses to replace aging/dying big businesses. Its a long term structural problem, even if things seem fine today.

What happened? Didn't Hogan's we're open for business do anything? That on a welcome sign on the highway as motorists drive into the state was not the most appealing marketing tool.
