At my agency you would be on a new probationary period. I just became a manager (same office I’ve been working for 15 years) and I was told that I am on a probationary period for one year. WTF??

The memo asks for the agency's recommendation. Kinda hard to recommend keeping someone who got a 1 or 2 on their eval.

It's an obvious smokescreen to avoid legal problems with mass firing probationary employees, which they'll do.
How does this play out do you think? Will OPM actually let folks go? Will they direct agency heads to do it? Does it get pushed down to supervisors? Will they get a script? Hard to imagine how this will go down in my office.

Anonymous wrote:Wow this would be incredible for my agency. Some of the recent hires are awful but (in my agency) firing someone on probation is almost as difficult as firing a permanent employee. My boss is going to be thrilled.
