So, so sorry, OP. That is extremely frustrating.

Hiring manager — this is what we were told this afternoon.

When was your start date supposed to be?

If a job posting closed recently any chance they'll just do the interviews assuming the hiring process will take longer than the 90 days for the hiring freeze? Assuming of course the agency decides to keep the job after implementing its plan for workforce efficiency.

OMB and OPM issued a joint implementing document last night, 5 pages plus appendix. If you’re not scheduled to be onboard by 2/8 the offer is rescinded.

Our chief just emailed the office about it. The only people eligible for it are people who are already in my office. So no one was being "hired" for the position, but it's still an "open position" on Jan. 20. I think we won't be able to fill it. Is that what you think too?

My understanding is that this is a reassignment. Never had an administration restricted all reassignments. They're moving a current employee -- not hiring a new person.

hard to say. I had a tentative job offer before the Jan 2017 freeze. My start date was pushed back a few times, but I eventually started sometime in April. who knows.

Yes bc the position was vacant as of noon today.

There is a difference between TJO and FJO however.

Sorry I should add I don't know how TJO and FJO status relate to the EO? Anyone out there know?

Last time (at my agency) people who had chosen a start date and received their final offer were able to start. Tentative offers were placed on hold and never progressed to final offers.

It also excepts an awful lot of agencies. Anything in national security, immigration, public safety, VA, SS, and Medicare is excepted. That’s gotta be 75% of federal employees.

If they are able to start the job and it's a good job and nowhere near the top, then it could be a good job for twenty years. It's a personal decision, but in no way a no-brainer.

Last time you would have been able to fill it.
