Looks like power was back on by 915. Bummer that innovation and Woodlawn can’t just open late.

It’s only icy where residents don’t clear their sidewalks properly which is so many able bodied people it’s embarrassing and it’s already been like that for a while now.

yes but that's a lot of sidewalks, including most of the way to my kid's busstop

Yeah it’s been like this on and off since first snow in early January. Time to adapt I guess. I normally let my kid walk to the bus stop alone and I or spouse have been going with her and we walk in the road some.

I think school on time was the right call, but what I see is that that county doesn’t clear sidewalks. Sidewalks in front of houses I saw this morning were mostly clear, but the walks in front of county parks were sheets of ice.

Unfortunately, that's something the county needs to take care of. You can't keep canceling schools b/c of homeowners. The country has a report tool. Every neighborhood has NextDoor. Have your people go out and shovel as a team. If you have scouts or older teens, sign off on it as volunteer work. People don't have to throw up their hands and say there is nothing that can be done.

+1
2 hour delays are just a waste.

Why didn't they close these schools earlier? Didn't they know about the power outage?

Did the power go out because of ice, or unrelated to weather?

Not really. We are more like city of Alexandria and DC which are open normal.
