OP. I am too. I wasn’t making a political comment with this post. It was simply noteworthy that in this giant moment, immediately following Trump’s rousing speech, she walked out, stood ready to perform after she and the military band were announced, and then…nothing. Silence. Her face looking expectant, then tense as the beginning of the backing track played for one second, then cut out, and then…she looked resolved. Sort of. She nervously told the crowd, “You know the words, help me out here.” And they did - the whole room, including President Biden, joined her.
I thought it was pretty remarkable.
