She was accepted to UGA with merit aid (making her in-state although we live in Maryland) honors college, etc. All in it will cost $28k/year.
I know little about UGA but just watched a video on Athens.
It looks like an amazing college town.
Her current plan is to go to medical school. Any reason to not attend?

Years ago, I had a friend who transferred from UGA.
Apparently there is a lot of partying and also back then the gender ratio was off. Apparently there were a lot more girls than boys and the scene for girls at UGA was really difficult. Again, this info is secondhand and from over twenty years ago but it still is worth considering at least.

Hard pass

Athens is a wonderful blue dot small city of low-key fun. And at least when I was young, REM members used to just always be out hanging with the rest of us. But seriously, Georgia is purple - Atlanta is pretty blue. Think of it as a state where your kids vote will matter. I would not do Alabama, Ole Miss or FSU but I would do Georgia. Plus, cost of living is less down there so you'll save some money.
