Can you explain how "TikTok has been shutoff [sic]"?

Is there an agency that performed this function today (Sunday)? What did that entail? Is this the first app/website (which? both) that Americans cannot access? Is it just removed from App stores or all DNS servers have removed the mappings? All DNS servers in the US? What about VPN?

I have never been on TikTok, but I do watch things on Instagram and YouTube. I bet most content creators you watch have a presence there, or there will be similar rabbit holes to go down. I understand that the compensation model is different, but I don’t lose any sleep over most of these people “losing their livelihoods” because me watching you dump cake mix in a bowl or showing me your “Stanley Collection” isn’t really a job. On some of the other sites, those who really deliver good content either get brand deals, sponsorships, or support from actual viewers through sites like Patreon.

With TikTok gone, more people use Meta. Zuckerberg has been spending time with trump and his platform just removed censorship filters that prevent hate speech. Look up how many R politicians have invested in Meta in the last 6 months. It’s not a coincidence.

This is embarrassing as a 44 year old wife and mother… but I had gotten a little addicted to TikTok.

I will be replacing it with DCUM, reinstating screen time limits on my phone and hopefully getting my life back on track!
