You cant be serious that your kids dont know its inauguration day? Thats so odd.

We have a busy weekend with sports, play dates, errands and a party to attend so will likely stay home Monday. Probably invite friends over to play.

If you dont live downtown you can literally do whatever you want. Whatever you normally do on cold weekends.

We are in the suburbs so business as usual - mix of active and inactive play around the house and neighborhood.

If I lived in the city I would invite myself to a suburban friends home for a Sunday evening - Monday evening sleepover! Or barring that, book a hotel room outside the city. Or just resign myself to a quiet day indoors.

Watch Wicked. It’s $30 to stream at home. Also the Wizard of Oz. It’s surprising how many people watch Wicked and haven’t seen the Wizard of Oz.

I am by no means looking forward to the inauguration or what comes next, but can't imagine trying to keep that it's happening from a 10 and 14 year old.

My kids are similar ages. I gave up on finding something to do… was thinking of a hike, but it’s going to be crazy cold. Definitely not going downtown. Considered Baltimore, but if there is actually decent snow, who knows what the roads will be like. So now we plan to hang out at home… clean/organize, bake, play board games, etc.

Umm it is very much about the inauguration for 95% of us around here … especially if we live on or near the Hill and are effectively trapped here.

Are you that incapable of enjoying some peace and quiet? There’s something pathological about needing to move around so much that you can’t imagine enjoying a couple of movies with your family.

Traffic is going to be crazy (we are in DC less than two miles from the Capitol) and people might be restless and crazy (all the Trump fans who don't get in to the inauguration but travelled here.) There are tens of thousands of people with nothing to do, just roaming around.

I want us to just hunker down and hang out at home that day.
