I think a lot of older moms have forgotten how delicate you are when you have a young baby.

Rage is rage no matter who does it. Don’t excuse this behavior if you wouldn’t offer the same grace to another person.

People have hit a new level of crazy. I’ve been screamed at three times in the past couple months by middle aged white women in a very wealthy area of DC for driving related things. Nothing where I was wrong or caused any harm. I think your son is fine because the baby is certainly fine but he should report the threats. There is zero excuse for this kind of abusive behavior, new baby or not. If she is this unhinged her baby may be in actual danger.

Last year, my 17 yo was leaving work from a parking garage. An older guy was going the wrong way in the garage, so my kid almost hit his car. The guy actually followed my kid home to our house! He rang our doorbell and told us we should talk to him about safe driving. Totally unacceptable and creepy.

You would never excuse a man under significant work stress the same way. There is no excuse here.

That’s correct, I wouldn’t, b/c PPD is a medical condition and something very different than work stress. I’m also not excusing anything, I was offering up a possible explanation for her reaction.

Even women with PPD should not threaten the life of another person. She is as equally wrong as a man who yells the same thing.

That is so beyond normal protective mom behavior. That is psycho nuts.

There is no excuse for her behavior but I would not be worried going forward.
If you happen to see her at your house or something call the police. But this is extremely unlikely.
There’s nothing the Police can do, they didn’t witness the accident, they didn’t witness her behavior,they helped them exchange info, it goes through insurance.

Was your son on his phone? Is he an attentive driver? Was he at fault?

Clearly she overreacted but who knows what she was going through. Hopefully your son wasn’t glib and everyone can move on.

If the baby was an infant/nonverbal, I think you give her some grace. Or maybe she’s a nut. Either way, let insurance handle it.

She also could be at fault and pulled in front of the OP’s son without looking. Yelling at a 17 year old kid is a loser move.

If he hit her then they probably will find him at fault. Had a driver turn right on red when I had a green arrow for a left turn. I hit him because was not expecting him to go when he didn't have the right of way. Insurance blamed me for whatever reason.
