I was looking into Calleva for fishing but reviews are mixed. Did you have a good experience?


I can't imagine any active tween/teen enjoying 8 hours of fishing a day for a week straight (or even 6 hours a day), but that's just me and my kids

Montgomery County offers a leadership/service camp. It fills quickly, so watch for when it opens and sign-up if interested- my kids got a lot out of it

Umm, like at tennis camp your learn to play tennis, at sailing camp you learn to sail. It’s not that popular. My kid does it and l know one other. Usually it’s kids whose families also enjoy sailing.

Mine is doing a backpacking camp and Scout camp with his Troop. He has one STEM camp that he asked to do. The rest of the summer he will be hanging at home with friends or on vacation with us.

My kids attended Maine Teen Camp for several summers and had a wonderful time. It is very pricey though. They also did specialized sports camps (the kind that runs from Sun through Thurs at various college campuses). They had fun experiencing "college life." Their favorite was a camp at UVA. One did the competitive/college prep one, and the other did the recreational one. Both said the instruction/games were great, and the extra evening activities were a lot of fun. One of mine also attended and enjoyed several Overland hiking camps.

1 week visiting grandparents, 3 weeks of sleepaway camp, and 2 half-day weekday camps (rock climbing, drawing and illustration) and pool time this summer for DD, 13. We live in DC and day camps are accessible via metro or she can walk on foot with a friend. DD is not too sporty so sports camps are not an option for us and DD does not want an all-day general day camp anymore. Other options we looked at were sailing camps and some (mostly) half-day camps at independent schools. Next summer DD has targeted some CIT opportunities to explore. Good luck!
