I do not do my spouse's laundry. I didn't do it when I worked 60 hour weeks, and I didn't do it when I worked 0 hour weeks, and I don't do it now with a half-time work schedule.

Pretty sure he wouldn't want me to do it. We've always just done our own.

I SAH and do both of ours, mainly because we share a hamper.

I work FT, make more than DH, and I do at least 90% of the laundry. No ironing though, he's on his own for that.

DH is breadwinner and I work very part time. I am very happy to do his laundry. As well as handle his dry cleaning and make all meals. On weekends and evenings when he is home is very involved with kids and other home related projects as well as our cars. We are a team and the division of labor is never going to look identical. Happily married with five kids.

Nope. DH is a big law partner. We also split household laundry, but he usually does more. Also, never took his car in for service or do his car registration/inspections or handled his dry cleaning. Mentioning these in addition because other SAHM moms I know do this for working spouse.

I do his laundry, but I also did it before we had kids when I still worked.

I don’t think there’s a rule for this.

The people who think the SAHP has tons of time are irrational. Unless the kids are in school full time, it’s not true. People in my experience really underestimate the childcare. Plus you need to be out of the house with the children most of the day.

I’ve always done the bulk of DH’s and my laundry but our kids did their own once they were old enough. We just find it easier for one of us to be the primary laundry person and my schedule has always had more time at home.

DH does more of the post work dog walking than I do and handles all of the trash and recycling and other tasks. We divide household tasks by who it works best for. I primarily cook, mostly because I love to but he will clean up after dinner.

OP I think you should wash all or most of the clothes. But neatly folding and putting away is not required. When I SAH I didn’t sign up to be a housekeeper. I was staying home for childcare and education, and to keep the house running (not necessarily looking immaculate).

We used to do this. Even though he sometimes put loads in to wash, I was really starting to feel resentful about his huge heavy clothes taking up each load. He’d have two pairs of jeans, a 10 shirts, so many boxers and socks, and I’d have like 1 shirt and 3 pairs of underwear and socks. Now we have separate baskets for each family member (no sorting!). He is more aware of when his clothes are piling up now and will put a load of his things in right away.

OP you obviously stay home. What are you possibly doing all day? Of course you do his laundry. That's the point of having a stay at home spouse - to take the load off the working spouse. You sound outrageously lazy.

I work 2-3 days a week. DH and I do each other's laundry. Sometimes when I'm doing mine I'll add in his because I have room. Or I'll just be on a roll with it and I'll keep going (that's how I was yesterday). Sometimes DH will be doing his laundry and throw my stuff in too. We expect to do our own, but we do each other's just to help out if we have time. Trying to get DS to do his own.

We have three kids. I work half time. Dh handles most laundry and I handle most meals. We have cleaners once a week but still vacuum and do dishes everyday.
