I try not to be regretful about things I wasn't able to see or do. You only have so much time and/or money.

One reason I haven't had many regrets is I learned at a young(er) age to do all the things and activities you can while you are still physically able to.

Many years ago, when I was on a tour to the Great Wall in China, there was an elderly couple who had waited their whole lives to go there. When they arrived they could not physically make it up the steps to get to the top.

Same though there was SO much to see and do in South Africa! I half planned a trip to Mozambique but was just having too much fun in SA that I never went.

DH just returned from a trip to Mozambique and he said you didn’t miss anything.

I rented an RV in Alaska several years ago and traveled all over and it was an amazing trip. But I will always regret not going halibut fishing. It’s my absolute favorite fish and we were in the halibut fishing capital of the world and I just didn’t want to spend the money. I feel like I need to go back to check it off the bucket list.

Another regret was passing up an opportunity to party with an up and coming actor because I had been partying my way around the world and was just plain tired and needed a night off. Friends who went came back at 6am with the best stories and he had some huge hit movies a year or two later.

I'm the Topkapi person above. We did go to Cappadocia although that was before the balloons were common. We got to bath in the white terraces at Pamukkale though, which is banned now.

Wow it’s banned now?? We also did the bath. Pamukkale was unreal.

Kyiv is (was?) pretty fun. Sadly don’t know when it’ll be safe to travel there again. I actually lived there awhile and never made it to Moscow, so I have the opposite regret.

Hmm I don’t know. I also didn’t do the balloon ride— just having a meal on a roof and overlooking the chimneys at sunset seemed like enough!

I think cappadocia is well worth a visit if you have time in Turkey. There’s just no other place quite like it.

When I was young, I used to cram too much into my travel schedule, to Che k off mute boxes.

Hopefully, with age you will learn you can’t really see a place if you squeeze it in with zero advance research about what appeals to you there. In one day, in a quick stop. I have learned that, and now take much deeper dives into a smaller area. Then yes, I might go back to the same country to see the next place. But at least I feel like I have been where I have been.

We found a dark paneled restaurant in Lisbon that was in the middle of an abandoned amusement park, and ventured in for lunch. The caldo verde was absolutely incredible, the Vinho verde cold and crisp, and broa was perfect. I couldn’t finish my stew, so somewhere there is a copper bowl with my half eaten stew in it. In my mind, I’m certain it’s still there waiting and warm - 25 years later- it still makes my mouth water
