Yea it’s county wide. They’re worried more pipes are going to burst and we’ll all have to go on a boil water advisory
I’d be frantically doing all the laundry and dishes and showering to prepare for the worst. We could go two weeks without laundry faculties if I had just done it all.
Your comment should be used as an exemplar when trying to teach the tragedy of the commons to economics students…

I live in Rockville. I do not pay WSSC for water. Am I included?

So where did that massive increase in infrastructure fees go? Honestly, the only way to get utilities to fix something these days is to absolutely break it. Maybe they'll finally be forced to upgrade infrastructure like they're charging us to do.
That money pays for these pipe replacements. It costs less to replace broken ones than to replace everything.

+1 Same, I pay City of Rockville, not WSSC for water. Have heard nothing about this.
I assume they use the same pipes??

Not judging. The county and WSSC should really not have let it come to this. Water main replacements were needed years ago. Customers should do their part to avoid a boil water advisory, but also should not bear the brunt of water mismanagement.
Yes and they keep raising our rates too.. for worse service?
