Well they bought it with no mortgage. At 40 on a $2,000,000 house, I find that impressive.

Same, though 3M. Modest house, 1 luxury car, 1 not so luxury car, and trusts for children. College is prepaid. We are really good at saving and investing but you would never know it. I don’t buy Hermes bags or care about brands. I prefer to splurge on vacations, food, and interior of house.

Kind of the inverse. I try to avoid friendships with people without means. 1.1-1.2 million is a fine floor IMHO. Below that, things can get dicey and weird.

PP you replied to. Thanks. I'll add that most of my friends live in more expensive houses but have fewer assets, because they're not investors. One friend in particular has a large, beautiful home on really lovely, landscaped grounds. She's middle class, but fell in love with that house and prioritized its purchase. She wouldn't be happy if OP tried to befriend her based on home value, though!

Yes I do out of curiosity especially if they live in Maryland. I'm in Virginia and homes here are way more expensive with less room and older
