I would try and grab passports, wallet, keys phone and maybe laptop. Passports/wallet/keys/laptop are all close together, so I guess it depends where the fire is if we could grab all or none.

I wouldn't bother with pictures or anything else paperwise.

Pictures, computers, medication, important papers, jewelry (never wear any but for the value of it).

Chargers
Meds
Some food/water/liquid IV

People (I don’t have pets) and documents/keys.

Kids, dog, folder of important documents (as cards, birth certificates, etc.), possibly the baby books and photo albums because they’re next to the folder.

The worst thought of it all is that there’s probably no way we could get our cats. They like to sleep under beds and in closets and we wouldn’t have time to find them.

All of our photos are backed up in the cloud, so I don't need the hard copies. The photos from before digital photos are still with my parents (though I've scanned and backed up a bunch of those too).

I'd probably focus on things we'd need, plus paperwork like birth certificates and passports and my wedding rings.

One thing I would do if I had 30 minutes is walk around the house and video every thing I could to help with the possible insurance claim.

I've known a few people whose houses have burned down. One of the best things to have is a video of every room and closet in your house. Or at least photos. Especially the closets. Part of the insurance process is listing everything you lost. It's hard to remember what was in every spot and it's a time when every dollar matters. Having photos or a video can help you remember, and serves as proof, once it's all gone.

Clothes, medication, laptop and jewelry, not kept in the safe.

We have a fire and waterproof safe that has all documents, jewelry, spare car keys etc.

I'd grab our file box with all our important stuff in it (birth certs, SS cards, passports, tax info, house deeds, car titles), our small electronics and as many personal items/clothing items as I could fit in a suitcase for us all.

Yes I posted above safe box but meant fire box. It contains wedding bad (I’ve outgrown), family passports:global entry cards, cash, coin collection, birth certificates……

Anything else that struk me on the way out. At the moment, probably wipe the shelf to my left, a few guitars near the door, a couple pieces of art near enough to the door, and that's about it. A change of clothes and a wipe of the bathroom counter for toiletries? We have a smallish house, cars right outside the door, and bags everywhere. It would be relatively easy to just fill a bunch of bags and go.

Nothing but people. I have no treasures and documents can be replaced.
5 minutes is long enough to crab iPhone, laptop, and important document bag, but not a must at all.
Things have held me back leaving fast several times in my life. Not only that, I went back to dangerous situation to get my useless stuff. Never again.
