At some 47, OP, I hope, is considering what she wants in a man, is looking for a man who likes her as-is, and is not trying to dress to please a stranger.
She can both want to put her best foot forward and look for someone who likes her as she is. Wearing a nice dress doesn't mean she's changing who she is as a person.
But she can also NOT wear a nice dress if that's her preference! She doesn't have to cast the widest possible net for someone who'd want to be with her.
In short - what are we even arguing about?!
I think PP's comment about the sweater dress was more a critique of it being a bit basic - but lots of people like basic! And lots of people look good in a sweater dress!!

Casual place- your cashmere v neck and jeans
Don’t wear a blazer on a first date. Good lord DC has the worst fashion advice.
Sweater dress with nice boots. Preferably something that looks fuzzy and soft, you want to project that you’d be a nice feminine presence in their life.
Maybe OP isn't looking to be a trad wife in her next relationship. OP, wear what makes YOU comfortable, not what you think men want.
OK then dress in red leather and bring the whip, not the cream.
Or wear a suit and bring your laptop to share you spreadsheets on the economic forecast of getting married.

Wear what your wear to work, or to theater, or church, or family parties.
Nothing looks sexier than comfort and interest.

You need to set up like 25 convenient first dates in a constant assembly line so they are all low risk and low investment. Don’t get to know them at all online, just do a coffee or a drink somewhere convenient.
This!!
