How often is this happening? What kind of communications did you get and did it lead to offers?

Different for girls vs boys.

Sophomore year is kind of late for girls but not as much for boys in terms of the activity ramping up. Girls tend to be 1 year ahead of boysz

Sophomore year for girls is not late. Most don't hear anything on June 15th of their junior year. Most girls are probably committing in their junior or early senior year.

There are senior boys just getting recruited.

If you are a girl you should have already been talking to /emailing with D3s your sophomore year and having some interaction (informal) with D1. If you think that activity first starts Junior year for girls and senior year for boys good luck to you…

What is informal d1 communication?

Informal D1 communication? IMO, that's all the precursor stuff to when the window opens on June 15. That's the emails to the coaches with details on upcoming games, showcases, new highlights being posted. Social Media posts of activities and follows of schools and coaches of interest. Attend an ID camp of top schools of interest or a local school for the experience of doing it. Any communication that is shared through your club coach to you as a player. Such and such school reached out to me - they are interested in your and seeing more, keep posting, etc.

+1
To include Coaches showing up at your showcase games, liking your social posts, thanking you for sending video/ watching your video, sending you personalized emails to invite to ID camp (not generic, automated), etc etc. All this informal stuff is required in order to generate enough interest for a call June 15….
