recently read the inmate by freida mcFadden - it was a good light read to start my goal of reading more books this year.

I love a cozy mystery when well written. The not so well written ones benefit from listening to the audiobook versus reading the written word.


Any recommendations for good cozy mysteries? I have enjoyed Louise Penny’s Armand Gamache series.

I love a cozy mystery when well written. The not so well written ones benefit from listening to the audiobook versus reading the written word.

Not new but I really enjoyed it - You deserve each other by Sarah Hogle. Read it on Libby, romantic comedy story about a couple experiencing issues. Very upbeat and fluffy.

I recently read The Mrs MacKinnons by Jayne Davis and it was just so cozy. There was no conflict that wasn’t resolved with two pages. The historical period was interesting. The romance was slow, closed-door, and totally organic. It was clean without being A Sweet Blessing Romance ™ IYKWIM. Most importantly, no first or second tier characters were made to do stupid things in service to the plot. Really, just an all around pleasure to read.

I enjoyed this book as well! I appreciated that you could draw larger philosophical meaning from it if you were so inclined - or you could just follow the unique plot and light humor.

I am loving this thread, as I am a 45 year old woman too exhausted by the world and by demands on my life to want anything other than escape when I read. I recently discovered Clare Mackintosh’s Ffion Morgan novels (two so far- The Last Party and A Game of Lies), and I really liked them.
