Yes, it’s in FL and has its share of typical Floridians. But it’s in NE FL and people are from all over.

Housing is very expensive and the taxes it away at a lot of your money, however groceries and daily living expenses are not bad.

I wouldn’t consider Florida for me because I hate humidity But I know that rising insurance costs are a huge problem in Florida. My friend’s parents had to move from Florida, even though they weren’t on the coast. Their insurance got too high for them to afford.

Santa Barbara has a crappy little airport and you have to fight a lot of traffic to get to LAX.

I love Santa Barbara - mild weather, on the beach and a funky little downtown, with easy access to LA (although I suspect decent healthcare in SB environs, too). The vibe is more interesting to me than any place I’ve been in FL.

Chatham, MA if open to seasons. They’ve got a great, older year round community.

PP here. UCSD medical center ER is only 20 minutes or so from La Jolla.

We just moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Rarely impacted by hurricanes, 45 min to JAX airport, 2 hours to Orlando Airport if needed (but I've been able to get to Europe and all over the US without much headache from JAX... just usually few- and sometimes no- nonstops). Mayo Clinic Florida is 15 min away and UF health system all around. We live a 5 min walk to the beach for <$1.5M.
