They normally take 8-10 girls but this past year they took 25. It's a disaster but your kid might have a shot to get in.

Is it a disaster because it was too many girls for the grade from a capacity standpoint? Or because of other reasons?

A disaster for capacity reasons. Teachers have been stretched, schedules have been challenging and it's a lot of kids to absorb into an existing tight-knit group when that was not the plan. Meh, the school wants the money though....

To be fair, there was an overwhelming yield for 7th that they really were not expecting. They don't usually have that many girls start. Their goal wasn't to expand that much so hopefully they learned their lesson and put more people on the waitlist.

And something like 12 of them were from one private elementary school.

Really depends year to year. Less than 6th. Usually around 10 spots per year.

Potomac looks good on paper to us too, but is not ideal location wise. We don’t live super close to a bus stop and it’s not in the direction of our work commutes.

I’d look at Potomac, too. 7th is an expansion year, and the start of intermediate school. It’s a great year to enter
