Yeah, I’m sad to say I agree with this. I have three beloved cats. And I would try everything there is to try - did the vet have any suggestions? And a geriatric litter box as discussed, I’d give that a shot, too. And a little time - maybe it’s a little GI bug or something. But if it’s been more than a month or so, you’ve tried everything, and the vet is out of ideas, I think it’s time to say good bye. I would not settle into a medium-to-long-term status quo of cat pee everywhere.
Disagree. My cat started peeing outside the box at 10 and lived to 17. She was just really picky with her box. We waited until she died to replace flooring.

This was our cat and also started around 15 to 16. This is probably not the best suggestion but we found that she usually used 1 or 2 rooms outside the litter box and we laid puppy pads all around those rooms. We would clean up the used puppy pad when she had an accident. And run around removing puppy pads whenever we had guests over. I think our friends thought we were nuts, but she seemed happy and healthy in every other way so we couldn't say goodbye.

Did your vet check for crystal
type stones in bladder? I think that's what they're called. One of our cats was experiencing that too. And spraying and leaking droplets of pee outside the box. We switched to a special food, Royal Canin Urinary SO food and low entry XL litter boxes. It def helped.

Adding he improved greatly. Put on a few pounds, fur softer, more social. Still has some issues but far fewer accidents. He leaks a bit sometimes. Poor old friend.

We switched to a low entry box and moved it closer to where ours hangs out. Also added goats milk kefir to his diet. We suspect He has ibs. Nothing else helped his tummy and doc couldn’t find diagnosis.

I agree with this. And, it breaks my heart.
