Was thinking something similar. Who cares. My kid has a hard time in school - ADHD, Depression - but a good kid, doing betting recently. Will be thrilled for him to go to college for the experience. I went to name unspecified school and now doing very well. My first job out of college I worked right next to someone who graduated from Harvard - no lie. I’m doing fine as a GS-15. I think that person is now at a think tank somewhere. All is well for a no name graduate.

Kid wanted to major in business & graduate in 3 years. Picked school that gave lots of AP credit for kid’s scores, direct admit to business, good OOS scholarships, bigtime sports, & fun atmosphere.

If you can only afford in state tuition, and your DC doesn't have the scores for the flagship or merit OOS, it's easy to only have 100+ as an option.

These are great schools for many students.

After much reflection and consideration of alternatives, it felt like the school that was best positioned to bring out the best version of themselves — academically, intellectually, socially, and in the ways that matter for a good life (health and wellness, confidence, curiosity, openness to experience, etc), plus it was in a region where they haven’t lived but might want to.

So many diagnoses - that seemed mitigated in high school but probably just buried because of covid policies, easy grading and many second chances allowed for a nice kid.

Not same poster, but we’re in the same boat right now. Even attending a school that is supposed to be good for kids with LDs. She is now in a do or die. Good times.
