Why don’t you just stay in Annapolis and got to that beach just before the bay bridge. Can’t remember the name, state park. That way you can have great food and activities in Annapolis in the evening and be at the beach during the day.

The beach is OK for swimming as long as there haven't been big recent storms, I've taken the kids before. There is a little riverfront walk and seaside bars/ places to eat. Torrey Smith paid for a park/playground in the town, so they have that now. Fire Escape and Dockside are my favorite places to eat there.

Hey Nate!

The wonderful surprise of Colonial Beach is when the Navy starts practice just up the river and are blowing up large shells. Shakes the whole town and is as loud as can be. Good times.

Have you looked at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club or Hyatt Chesapeake in Cambridge?

These sound more like what you are looking for.

Last year we went for one night at the end of march and had a good time. Kids played on the beach and we had a nice dinner at a Mexican restaurant right on the water. We stayed at this hotel and it was very nice:

It might get boring for more than a few days, but it’s not as bad as people here are making it out to be. And we vacation in Europe and Caribbean as well so it’s not like I have never been anywhere.

In comparison to all of the things to do in Colonial Beach, there is very little in that area of Maryland. Besides the fact that Calvert Cliffs is a 2 mile walk to the beach and flag pond, even with handicap parking, is a good 15 min walk to the beach.

In Colonial Beach you literally can park at the Beach.

OP, Its just that its not really a beach. I don't know why they call it that. Its along the dirty potomac river.

The river is clean and water tested daily for swimming conditions. It's always passing EPA standards. There are even dolphins spotted regularly in the summer (a sign that the water quality has improved)

Don't listen to the naysayers. They probably last visited in 1991.

Colonial Beach is awesome. During COVID a lot of people invested in town. Lots of new businesses and investments. Unfortunately no hotel, but a BNB, 3 motels and AirBNBs
